The Cleveland Browns take on the Pittsburgh Steelers, but all social media seems to care about Jadeveon Clowney throwing Chase Claypool’s shoe
Whenever the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers go head to head, you can count on a hotly contested game. And every once in a while you can expect something crazy to happen.
During Monday Night Football in Week 17, some of the crazies came out as Cleveland defensive end Jadeveon Clowney decided to do something that no one saw coming. After the Browns defense stopped Chase Claypool on a third play, Clowney took the wide catcher’s shoe and threw it.
The play quickly took to social media and Twitter made some jokes.
There were several references to Austin Powers, with the following GIF appearing throughout.
Then there was also the connection with George W. Bush, who displayed insane reflexes when he was thrown a shoe on the head during a press conference.
While it’s not everyday that you can compare the Browns’ defense to that of George W., it’s not a good thing either. Clowney’s blunder gave the Steelers a first free try as he was flagged for an on-play penalty.
Understandably, the Pittsburgh offense conceded and scored a touchdown to take a 7-0 lead in what had been a tough defensive battle.
Pittsburgh is 7-7-1 and is trying to stay in the playoff race as the Browns were eliminated 7-8 on Sunday. They are still playing for their first consecutive winning season since 1989, but the first signs are not good.
Cleveland’s offense is a mess and the defense is depleted due to his presence for most of the second quarter.
