MEDIA ADVISORY: Wayne State University School of Medicine will host an in-person game day on March 18 – [email protected]

What: Match Day is the culmination of four years of hard work and determination for medical students nationwide, including our 300 future doctors who are training in the heart of Detroit at Wayne State University School of Medicine. This is the day medical students find out if and where they have “matched” with the medical specialty and medical residency program of their choice.

WHO: In the first in-person Game Day Celebration since 2019, Wayne State University School of Medicine students from the Class of 2022 will gather in the ballroom of the MotorCity Casino Hotel to learn where they will begin their careers as doctors. Students will open a letter containing their post-graduation residency assignment for the next three to seven years, depending on their medical specialty.

For those unable to attend in person, the game day celebration will stream synchronously on wayne.edu/live.

Why: It’s a visually and aural appealing event to cover, with students and faculty available for interviews before and after the big reveal.

Or: Hotel MotorCity-Casino
2901 Grand River Ave.
Detroit, MI 48201

The game day celebration will begin at 11 a.m. – residence placements will be revealed at noon. Media must complete a filter to attend the event. Please visit this website for the pre-screening form.

Media: Please contact Andrea Westfall at [email protected] or 586-871-9630.
