Has Syracuse Orange Men’s Basketball Embraced Social Media Trolling?

After the Syracuse Orange defeated the Clemson Tigers on Tuesday night, a seemingly innocent post-game tweet hit the official men’s basketball account.

But was it really innocent? Look again at the “True Grit” caption. Loyal #FakeNunes preview readers may have noticed that Clemson is using #ClemsonGRIT as a hashtag this season. So is this just a coincidence or is Syracuse entering the new landscape of team accounts?

(context for you non NHL fans here)

Going back to post-game tweets for previous wins, I didn’t see any reference to the Florida State Seminoles #NewBlood after Orange’s win in Tallahassee, so maybe that was just a coincidence. However, if Syracuse wants to embrace pettiness, we have some ideas for the next opponents should the Orange prevail:

The Duke Blue Devils use “The Brotherhood” and hey Syracuse has real brothers on the team, how about that.

For the NC State Wolfpack and their #GoPack, you can use the Hurricanes storm surge for an “orange wave overwhelms Raleigh”.

The Louisville Cardinals could just be run with an Uno Skip image.

We are certainly available to help you with other ideas and don’t worry about sportsmanship. This is all just harmless fun on Twitter…as long as Syracuse is the winning team, of course, otherwise such behavior is in bad taste.
