Dairy Marketing: Colombian dairy, food and beverage company Alpina has partnered with Clover Sonoma, a dairy company located in Sonoma County, California. With annual sales of approximately US $ 240 million, Clover Sonoma is one of Northern California’s leading dairy processors. Clover Sonoma is particularly strong in the organic milk market, which is a growing market compared to the stagnant non-organic milk market.
Colombian news site Valora Analitik says Alpina has confirmed it has purchased a 70% stake in Clover Sonoma. When it comes to dairy marketing, as Alpina and Clover Sonoma seek synergies, Clover Sonoma will continue to market its products as a stand-alone brand.
Carlos Leal, Marketing Director at Alpina tells Portada he’s very excited about Clover Sonoma’s expansion into the Southern California market, where it has already made distribution deals with retailers like Whole Foods and Trader Joe.
Clover Sonoma’s dairy marketing has traditionally had strong outdoor advertising and public relations components. Its billboard is famous for its puny billboards featuring Clover Sonoma’s mascot Clo the Cow. Going forward, Leal sees growth opportunities in the increased use of digital marketing and social media marketing.
The partnership will facilitate growth in the US market, particularly in Southern California.
Founded in 1945 in Bogotá, Colombia, by two Swiss immigrants Max Bazinger and Walter Gogge, Alpina operates in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and the United States. In the United States, the Colombian company has a unit that imports products from Colombia for distribution in the United States.
